Thank you Terriers!
Terriers:
It is with pleasure, appreciation and pride that we wrap up another
great year at Terrier Tri and I want to take this moment to properly
thank everyone who made the year especially memorable.
Thank you first to the coaches, who give tireless hours of instruction
and patient teaching and encouragement, motivation and support to
athletes of all abilities and experience levels, from the beginners
who enter the sport with one or two strengths and plenty of desire to
learn, to the advanced athletes and podium contenders who hope to
improve and post PRs every year, and reach new heights in their chosen
sport.
Each of the coaches, Spencer, Megan, Dave, Sarah, Julia, Andreas, Christine, Elizabeth & Josh bring his or her unique talents and individual ability to inspire you, and I thank you for all the hard work you've invested in the team, coaching both individually and in groups, to bring out the best in everyone and create a great experience for all involved. I appreciate your patience and consistency.
To the athletes, I want to say a special thank you since without your
dedication and investment in the sport there would be no team. I
admire and appreciate all the hard work and good spirit you bring to
the sport and the team, especially those for whom this is a "before
work" commitment. You show up in the cold, the dark, the rain and yes
even snow to workouts that require you to focus and build on your
strengths and minimize your weakness, and I've especially enjoyed
watching people grow who are new to the sport become better every year.
This was a great year for the advanced athletes as well and some
highlights included: Sending five Terriers to Kona, where Julia
finished top ten in her age group and the times posted by Kevin,
Billy, Elizabeth and Sam were phenomenal by every measure. The 70.3
World Championships with 7 Terrier's competing with the worlds best. And finally Christine Kenney finishing 9th overall at Ironman Cozumel to
officially end the 2009 season.
And I am proud of the fact that for 2010 we have initiated drop in
programming at West End, a specific Ironman training group with 45 Terriers planning to compete at Ironman Switzerland and Ironman Lake Placid. Plus we have larger than ever groups signed up for half ironman training program and olympic distance as well. So I look forward to an amazing year in 2010, with more great triumphs, both personal and public, to come. Here's to a great year, free of injuries and crashes, and with plenty of medals and smiles at the finish line.
Happy New Year Terriers!
Robert

Thank You!
Terriers,
A season of triathlon training is much like life, with the usual ups &
down. Most days you are focused but those lazy days that creep in are
sometimes needed. You want to be fast everyday but with injuries
sometimes fast needs to takes a back seat. You enter a race strong but
know even the best can at times feel weak. But as we reflect on 2011,
there can only be one conclusion, YOU did it! If it was your first race,
a PR or just too physically feel better, we hope you reached your 2011
goals.
I want to thank all of YOU, the athletes, for believing in Terrier and
giving us the opportunity to lead you on your personal athletic journey
amongst friends and teammates. Seeing how many of you have built
friendships outside of training is even more special, as we create moments
& memories that we hope you will enjoy sharing the rest of your life. And
for Terrier, this is more important then the final results.
How fortunate am I to have such an amazing staff to work with you on a
daily basis. Thank You...
Julia Mavrodin, Elyse Corwin & Megan Jones who all of you probably know
from their toes as they tirelessly walk the pool deck to get you ready for
the swim. Sarah Littlefield (Littlefoot) who we lost at the end of this
year but who will always be a Terrier coach and athlete for life. We miss
her and wish her the best in DC. Martin, who many of you have yet to
meet, will be working along side the lady swim coaches in 2012 and is
excited to bring his swimming knowledge and experience to Terrier.
Christine Neumeier for all her hard work in managing the beginner cycling
& triathlon programs while managing little Max! I’m excited for 2012 as
Christine takes the lead with the cycling program and will be available to
work with you more frequently on a daily and weekly basis.
Christian Struck for managing the IM program and getting everything to the
line! So many things can go wrong with IM training and everyone finished
it!
Kevin Horty for his amazing support he gives all our runners, from
walk/joggers to elite. How he’s able to connect with all levels speaks
volumes of his coaching!
Michael Eisenstadt, George Ross, Kyle Lelaiert who will be working with
you during bike sessions and trainer classes. This adds an exciting new
chapter to the Terrier cycling program to better support you with three
great cycling coaches & instructors.
Heather Cecci for the sponsorship work to bring you the best deals and
equipment each year. She works so hard to get these deals done, thank
you!
Taylor Dunham for all the design and artwork to make you look good!
Amanda Kennedy who since her arrival has been the perfect addition — she’s
our PR. Her support in the office has been essential for Terriers
foundation and grow into 2012 and beyond.
And finally Spencer Casey, who from the beginning has worked long and hard
to see the development of the you the athlete and Terrier as a company.
His passion for coaching, love for all the athletes and consistency is
second to none. For this I thank you Spencer.
Now I lift a glass to YOU and say thank you for 2011. May 2012 bring many
more great memories, moments and PR’s as you smile all the way to the
finish line.
Happy New Year!
Robert & Buc

central park update
Terriers - as many of you know, the NYPD has been out in force issuing tickets for running red lights in Central Park. Not only when the park is open to traffic but also during dedicated car free times. There is still no solution and police will continue issuing tickets for running red lights. We will keep you updated but if you are riding in the park, obey traffic signs and signals to avoid a $250 citation. We suggest using the park for easy spinning and riding. Save the hard workouts for the trainer and 9W. When riding in the park always remember these simple rules --
• Riding direction in Central Park is always counter-clock wise and NO riding on the walking paths!
• Always remember SAFETY FIRST and COURTESY RULES
• Be aware of other athletes, people, dogs and potential hazards on the road.
• Everyone is doing a different workout, so be flexible.
• When the park is open to cars, use bike lane but be careful of the runners
• When the park is closed to cars, use left car lane and only use right lane to pass.
• Again, always stay left in Central Park unless passing!
Thank You Terriers
Terriers:

2010 was another great year for 1st timers in addition to our competitive athletes with highlights including: US Nationals, Kona, Clearwater and AG Worlds. 2011 will bring more programming, better partnerships & discounts and additional races. But remember, what keeps Terrier consistent is the fun and comradery that come with it.
I look forward to more great triumphs, both personal and public, to come, free of injuries and crashes, and with plenty of medals and smiles at the finish line.
Happy New Year Terriers!

Wanna be like Mike? Watching Michael Phelps swim butterfly is poetry in the pool. If you want to learn the stroke that scores highest on the “Impress Your Friends” list, then join me, Coach Dave, this Sunday for a clinic designed to lay the foundations for learning this challenging, but very rewarding stroke.
The butterfly stroke must be learned in stages, and the foundation of the “fly” as it’s known, is the dolphin kick. We will spend the first half of the clinic focusing on dolphin kick technique, then begin to layer in the arm stroke.
